Bolton VS. Clinton

As Republicans push for a vote on John Bolton’s nomination again, one would have to wonder on the real motivations behind the Democrats constant blocking. A few complaints on abusing authority should not be a factor for the Democratic Party. Take a look at their “hero” Bill Clinton. He committed many mistakes throughout his term, yet he is praised as one of the greatest Presidents of our time.

Look at the comparisons. Critics state that Bolton becoming the U.S. Ambassador is ill-advised. An example is the situation with Kim Jong Il. Bolton called him a “tyrannical dictator.” This comment was supposedly “politically incorrect” and had him removed from the six-party talks. His comments may have set relations between the U.S. and North Korea back years. Bolton isn’t in denial of the facts. He understands that a man like Kim Jong, who has nuclear capabilities and is open to the idea of preemptive attack, is a dangerous man. On the other hand, Bill Clinton was offered Osama Bin Laden on a silver platter by Sudan, and regardless of past attacks against embassies and hate speech towards America, the former President did not take any action. The consequences of that was the bombing of the U.S.S. Cole and eventually the 9-11 attacks.

Critics also claim that Bolton was dishonest with reports on Syria’s nuclear capabilities and Cuba’s Biological Weapons activities; most of this has been exaggerated. In contrast, Bill Clinton was televised lying under oath about committing adultery. Democrats consistently try to downplay Clinton’s situation, saying what he did is in the past. That may be, but why parade a president who has such an unattractive history?

John Bolton has been accused of being a fighter, while Clinton was accused of being a lover. For example: A “left-wing” USAID worker made allegations on the Ambassador nominee. Remember, this is the woman who started the organization, “Mothers Opposing Bush.” She claims that he chased her through a Moscow hotel, shouting and threatening her. Not a good deed, but at least it was better than allegations from six women claiming mistreatment against Bill, which includes the Lewinsky factor. Most of these women’s true stories have seen little press, but unproven accusations against Bolton have danced all over the news.

These examples, (and many others) have shown that while Bolton is a little rough around the edges, and may not have the best record, but his “mistakes” are dwarfed by our former President’s errors. What is really the issue here? Does the Democratic Party really believe that these charges really make Bolton the wrong man for the job? It seems it’s a partisan issue. The left-wing elite constantly downplay any accomplishments by the Bush Administration. In a nutshell, they don’t want any of the nominees of George Bush to be elected; otherwise their agenda won’t be pushed forward. Either that, or John Bolton isn’t naughty enough for their tastes.

No Class!

Because of Liberals, riots and deaths are occurring. Another false accusation made to make President Bush and America look bad. When will the Liberals learn to confirm their resources before they print out false information? Does Newsweek even care if they affront millions of Muslims? Most likely not, but they don't want the cash flow interrupted. What's really vital to them is the liberal agenda. Maybe the magazine didn’t expect rioting and deaths to occur, but maybe they wanted to take advantage of the episodes of unrest happening in Afghanistan. What makes it worse is that at this point they argue that their accusations have not been proven wrong. Just like a Liberal, no class.

But why use false documents to make the U.S. look bad. According to certain citizens around the country, Bush and the government lied. It doesn't matter if intelligence reports were released clearing American authorities. Those reports were probably doctored...right? Liberals live in their own foolish conspiracy world. If they get proven wrong, then they fall into denial. “Whatever with proof; Bush still lied!”

Democrats and Liberals constantly search for reasons to attack conservatives and they will do anything, including create wild allegations out of normal practices. Take for instance Tom Delay. What is the problem with employing your daughter or wife? Who hasn’t gotten a job from a family member or even worked for a relative? The truth is that the Dems will do anything to get a Republican out of office. Since the so-called scandal became public, support for Delay in his district has dropped significantly. Howard Dean recently called him a criminal. Innocent until proven guilty just goes out the window for Republicans. Regardless if Tom Delay is proven innocent, his reputation is smeared; possibly for good. Yes, right now the left are rubbing their hands together with evil grins, wondering who will be the next victim. No class.

Maybe Newsweek’s anonymous source is the same as Dan Rather’s. Releasing forged documents seems to be his forte. It’s a shame when a reporter doesn’t care what the source is as long as it pushes their agenda.
If Liberals want to put out professional-looking false articles, then they need to get Jason Blair. I'm sure he can get Bush impeached and turn America into a communist country. Isn't that what the left-wing loonies want since they always bash our great land of the free?

Now, to alter the subject slightly, here’s my two cents on the filibuster vote: remove the judicial filibuster. We need our judges voted in already and Democrats as usual are stalling the system. Let’s just get the up-or-down vote. I can tell you why the Dems want the filibuster to stay. It’s about the conservative movement. Fox News, conservative radio, and bloggers are opening the eyes of citizens from the left-wing agenda. The left has controlled network television for many years. Now, there is a conservative movement that isn’t going to go away. This is bad news for liberals since they don’t make no sense and let their lives be run by conspiracies. People care about moral values because they have families and don’t want their kids to be taught about homosexual sex in schools or that they can have abortion-on-demand.

Keeping this in mind, I believe that the U.S. government will mostly be run by conservatives for most of the foreseeable future. If that is the case, then we don’t have to worry about judicial filibusters. Most of the future judges will probably be conservative and liberals are going nuts over this. They will perform every kind of word twist in commercials and newspapers to keep the filibuster. It’s a lost cause. The only thing anyone can do now is wait and see.

The Road To Washington 1

The Road to Washington 1

Once in a while I will use this title. This will let one know that this post is mostly about me getting closer to my goal of becoming a politician. This will have a different tone than from my political view posts.

News, news, news! Many things have happened since my last post. Yesterday, I had a conversation with one of my instructors about possibly attending a four-year school right after I graduate from my current college. He explained to me that I can suspend my current financial aid and won’t have to pay until after I graduate from Hunter College. If this is correct, and if financial aid pays for me to continue school… then I got it made. This is exactly what I need. The goal for Washington has taken a big step. Of course-this is one step in a marathon of steps. I have much more to go.

Today I have made an effort to reach my goal. I attended a tour of Hunter College. I guess it’s ok. The building reminded me of Coney Island Hospital; especially more now than ever since I had a recent stay at the medical facility.

So I’m at the tour, and a woman is explaining admission requirements for freshmen and transfers. At the moment I’m not sure which category I belong to, but she mentions SATs and I know I’m going to have to take that test freshman or not. I guess I’m going to have a fun summer with the books.

The walking part of the tour begins with Phillip. He’s a very Americanized Indian who seems pretty educated. No accent or anything. He tries to make the tour a little better with jokes but it doesn’t help much because there were about 100 people and it was hard to hear what he was saying at some points. That wasn’t his fault though.

Near the beginning of the tour we walked on a bridge connecting two buildings and saw a cool view of the avenue. It was something out of Spiderman when he swings past the cars and the camera is in first-person view.

Next, our group arrived at the music department. Obviously I have no need for this since I’m going for political science. I guess it was just something to see. It was kind of funny since only one person was going for an art program but it was interesting anyway. There were even small quiet rooms so one could practice their instruments.

Like any other college, this school has the usual elements like a cafeteria and a gym (which we didn’t get to see), but it’s nice to know they’re there. They even have a Mac Lab which my crappy computer college doesn’t have.

As the tour ends, even Phillip admits the tour wasn’t very good. He says big tour groups aren’t good since we can’t see much because of speed and that makes sense. Reflecting on the day, I think I made progress. I have the catalog to read and the sheets that were given out. The tour ended around 4:30pm which didn’t leave me any time to go to financial aid. Sometime next week I’ll give it another shot.

First Blog

Hello. My name is Alberto and I'm starting to blog on this Website to bone up on my grammar and writing skills. This is really a practice blog so I'll just post whatever I have on my mind. One can consider this a journal. I’m not planning on writing anything too personal… just random thoughts.

So who am I? A regular Puerto Rican attending school and living in NYC. I'm studying for a computer certification. I'll probably graduate in May 2006. That will be so awesome because I never accomplished anything with my life and now I'm starting to wake up at 27 years old. Yeah I know, it's pretty late but I can still attain a great future. I'm very book-smart, always have been.

Graduating next year will guarantee me a pay greater than $20,000 which is my goal for now. It’s always wise to have some type of skill under one’s belt even if one isn’t very interested in the trade. I realized that many relatives in my family don’t have certifications on anything and all this achieves is keeping my family in poverty. This has to change and it’s going to change with me. I’m not saying that nobody in my family has well paying jobs. But very few do.

Recently I’ve had an epiphany (I hate using that word since Paris Hilton used it). For the past two years, I have been following up on the government and the political analysis shows. You know the ones, Bill O’ Reilly, Hannity and Colmes, Scarborough Country, etc. I have found that not only have I found it easy to follow up on political news, I love to do it! Watching what congress does next is like the latest soap from Aaron Spelling. Filibusters, funding spending, border patrol, etc. It’s the latest thing that won’t ever get cancelled.

As interesting as these shows are, I always get frustrated because of the Democrats. I’ve watched democracy play out in Iraq and think it’s a success. Of course there are still terrorist attacks being carried out but that could happen here just as easy as it’s happening over there. Democracy in Iraq can’t be considered a failure just because of crime. If that’s the case, then the democratic system does not work here either.

But do the Democrats see it that way? Hell no. According to them we’re losing the war, we fought there for the President’s personal agenda, who are we to interfere with other governments in the world, etc. This is straight foolishness. Only a blind man can’t see that we helped Iraq in so many ways.

I’ve decided I want to be a politician. I want to help this country and keep the liberal agenda from running this country… no, keeping this country hostage with ridiculous laws and loony agendas. Hunter College seems to have good courses in political science. I’m going to attend an open house this Friday, see how this school is.

I don’t know how this decision to be a politician will turn out, but I’m going to give it my best. It’s all I want to do now. Since I am older, I yearn to do something better than just repairing computers.

At the moment, my goal is to get straight A’s until I get my Associates degree. From there I’ll try to enter Hunter College and get on the road to political victory. Wish me luck!
